Excellent results for shooters and handguns from Česká zbrojovka achieved at the IPSC European Handgun Championship 2013. World Class Team CZ Shooting won in Portugal 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. The championship was held in the days of 5th – 14th September 2013 in the town of Barcelos. This competition was attended by 956 shooters coming from 51 countries. On behalf of CZUB shooting programme there was 12 shooters, all of them as primary members of state representation of the Czech Republic, Serbia and Slovakia.
Outstanding success was recorded by MD Kameníček, who won 2 gold medals. Using the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistol, MD Kameníček was victorious in the Production Division in Super Senior category and the winner in Shoot-Off. The Serbian shooter Ljubiša Momčilovič shooting with the same model won the bronze medal in the Production Division - Men). Petr Znamenáček using the CZ 75 TS model “shot through” the silver medal in the Standard Division – Men. And to the top of it Angus Hobdell from Team CZ-USA won the bronze medal in the Classic Division.
Then the gold medal was won by our team in the Production Division composed of Šebo, Zapletal, Liehne, Štěpán. The first three shooters named though not members of the Team CZ Shooting, are nevertheless "weaned” by this Team. All the same all four were shooting with versions of the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.
Squad in the Standard Division composed of Znamenáček, Podlešák, Rakušan (all of the Team CZ Shooting), with addition of the shooter Dvořák originally occupied the first place. After protests expressed by Italians, which was acknowledged by the officers, the squad finalised at the second place. All of our shooters were using the CZ 75 TS.
All good things are three – another golden achievement was made by our team in the Open Division composed of Havlíček, Heneš, Kameníček and Pijáček. All are members of Team CZ Shooting and all were using the CZ 75 TS Czechmate pistols.
Though other of our shooters did not “reached” the medals the results are definitely the wave of the future.
Only twenty-two years young Martina Šerá ranked at the 4th place in the Open Division – Women category. Martina left behind her a great assortment of the world´s aces. Michal Štěpán took significant part for achieving gold in the Production Division Teams competition, but a great success is also his 4th place in the Junior category as we have to take into account that this was his first event among the best racers of the world. He is for us a great promise for the future. Thumbs up also for Andrej Hrnčiarik at the 11th place in the Production Division. It was his first race after transition from Junior category to grown-ups.
And last but not least – three shooters from Česká zbrojovka shooting programme ranked in the Open Division in Top 10.
Tough-luck struck Martin Kameníček at this Championship in Portugal as he was deprived of gold medal by the cartridge without a powder charge. The bullet propelled only by the pressure generated solely by the primer has been lodged in the barrel so he was not able to finish shooting of the last stage in this race.
Other shooters of the Team CZ Shooting ranked to 20th place of the overall rating thus doing for Česká zbrojovka a very good work.
